Types of Special Requests

• A piece that is not in our current music library.  Our current music library contains approximately 100 pieces including standard wedding selections, several classical pieces, and some pop tunes.  Many pieces in our repertoire are listed on the Wedding Music or Contemporary pages, though not all of them.  The quartet manager will advise you on whether or not the piece is in our library.

• Accompaniment for a vocalist or solo instrument.  
  For vocalists, there is a list of our accompaniment here.
  We require at least one rehearsal with the soloist.

Please contact the quartet manager as soon as possible about your request.   She will need to know the following:

• Title and composer/artist of the piece.

• For accompaniment, the type of soloist (vocal, type of instrument, etc.).
  

Preparation Time and Additional Fees

Depending on the amount of work necessary to perform your piece, there may be additional fees and guidelines to allow time for us to prepare.

is not in our current repertoire and piano sheet music is available.	$80 per piece arrangement fee is incurred for a custom quartet arrangement of the piece. A minimum of 6 weeks notice is required to allow time for the arrangement to be written and the quartet to learn it.   If the quartet’s arranger determines that the piece is not suitable for performance by the string quartet, you will need to make another selection. Early Bird Special  If you book our group, you can request one arrangement 5 months before your event (or earlier) and the arrangement fee is half price ($40).
is not in our current repertoire and no sheet music of any kind is available	In this case, the arranger must listen carefully to a recording of the piece, write down every note, and rearrange it for the quartet.   $160 per piece transcription fee is incurred to write down and arrange the piece from a recording. Minimum of 8 weeks notice is required to allow time for the transcription / arrangement to be written and the quartet to learn it.   If the quartet’s arranger determines that the piece is not suitable for performance by the string quartet, you will need to make another selection.

Our Most Unusual Request

In April 2001 we were hired to play an outdoor wedding by a couple who spent their weekends on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.  The wedding was traditional - tuxes and long dresses.  However, they decided to do one thing a little different.  Instead of walking back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony, they started up their Harley and rode down it.   For this rather unusual recessional, they asked us to play Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild".

Carla got a copy of the sheet music and listened carefully to a recording and was able to come up with a very interesting, "playable" version of the song!  The quartet rehearsed and sent a recording of the arrangement to the couple.  It turned out to be exactly what they had in mind.  So, yes, we can even do rock music.    Want to hear how it turned out?  Click here:
